Customers of One of Michigan’s Largest Cellphone Carriers Are About to Receive a Settlement
Michigan cellphone customers who are part of one of the largest data breach settlements in History will soon begin receiving checks.
T-Mobile agreed to pay $350 million to settle a 2022 class action lawsuit after sensitive customer data was compromised. Those checks should be hitting select customers' mailboxes as early as this month.
T-Mobile Data Breach Put Customer Information in Jeopardy
The class action lawsuit came after a 2021 cyberattack that compromised data for roughly 76 million cellphone customers. Compromised data included customers' names, addresses, and Social Security numbers.

How Much Money Will Customers Whose Data Was Compromised Receive?
If you're a T-Mobile customer who opted to participate in the class action lawsuit, checks are expected to arrive as early as this month.
Customers whose information was compromised and had to spend money to recover from fraud or identity theft as a result were asked to provide documentation in order to prove their losses. In extreme circumstances, those customers will be eligible for reimbursements up to $25,000.
If you opted into the suit but didn't provide any sort of documentation, the cash payout will be much smaller, up to $25.
