Judge Boots Michigan Woman for Making Sandwich on Zoom
It was a true PB&J moment. A Detroit woman has gone viral after a Zoom court hearing took an unexpected turn when she started making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on camera. The judge, clearly unimpressed, removed her from the virtual courtroom, and the clip is now spreading online.
Asja Outerbridge was scheduled to appear in Detroit's 36th District Court on a misdemeanor charge of having an open alcohol container while riding as a passenger in a car. She joined Judge Sean Perkins' virtual courtroom for the hearing.
According to Fox 2 Detroit, 36th District Court hearings are streamed live on YouTube.
Why the Zoom Hearing Went Viral
Outerbridge's attempt at multitasking is what got her into trouble with the judge and made the moment go viral.
"It was just a lot going on," she told the TV station. "I was having a mommy day."

A Sick Kid and a Sandwich
Outerbridge's 3-year-old daughter, Parker, was home sick that day, so she was trying to take care of her while attending the hearing. In the video below, you'll see Outerbridge dressed in a robe, trying to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for her daughter.
In her defense, she said she had to wait in the court's queue for hours before she was called on by the judge.
Judge’s Reaction and Woman's Apology
Judge Perkins clearly had no patience for the multitasking mom.
"I do feel like I owe the judge an apology," she said. "I could have come better prepared, and I could have handled it a lot better."
