Michigan’s Ultimate Guide to Dog-Friendly Destinations – Pack Up Your Pup and Go!
Because who wants to leave their fur babies at home when you can take them with?
Pets are just like our children in some ways...and in some ways, they aren't. Most of the time, we can't take our pets on trips with us. Finding a pet-friendly vacation destination can be difficult, but if you're not looking to venture too far from home, we've got a list of Michigan vacation destinations that you can enjoy this summer that are dog-friendly.
Traverse City
Wine, anybody? Bring your pup to Traverse City and check out the dog-friendly beaches and the Sleeping Bear Dunes. You can grab a treat for your pup from the D.O.G. Bakery, which is conveniently located on West Front Street. You can even pamper your pup with the new services offered at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa - the Dog Dreams Inn. Overnight accommodations, cage-free environment and trained professionals will entertain your pooch. If you'd like something more low-key, here's a list of pet-friendly hotels around the area.
If you love dogs but you're not quite sure that you want to bring them with, check out Bowers Harbor Vineyards. They've got dogs that roam the property, and you can even buy one of these awesome dog wine glasses. Yes, I have one.
Holland/West Michigan
Enjoy the Dutch history with your dog in Holland by taking a walk down the dog beach at Kirk Park or, appropriately, Paw Paw Park. On your way out, grab a sweet treat for them at Decadent Dogs in South Haven. Or, enjoy some vino at The Round Barn Winery in Baroda, where dogs are allowed to roam the outdoor grounds with you.
Here's a list of pet-friendly hotels in the Holland area.
Detroit
Take a walk down the Detroit Riverfront with your doggie, or grab them something yummy at the Bow Wow Bake Shoppe in Grosse Pointe Woods. Yes, they have cupcakes that are safe for your pup. You can shop the pet-friendly Eastern Market, and stop at the urban pet shoppe 3 Dogs, 1 Cat for some cute accessories for your dog.
Here's a list of pet-friendly hotels in the Detroit area.
Have a fantastic summer, and hopefully you can bring your pet with you! It's also okay to take a break from them, too. Don't feel bad. ;)
