Shocking: Michigan Murder/Suicide Victim/Suspect Identified
Police have released the identities of those involved in a murder-suicide that happened at a Mid-Michigan hotel over the weekend.
What Initially Happened?
Auburn Hills Police were alerted to a domestic disturbance at a hotel located at 3990 Baldwin Road in Oakland County. It all happened at 10:45pm on Friday night at the Holiday Inn Express.
When police arrived at the scene after being informed of a possible domestic dispute they began to approach the scene. Upon their approach they heard gunshots.
What Police Found was Shocking
When police entered the hotel room they discovered the bodies of Jackie Jo Torrez, a 34-year-old from Saginaw, and 33 year-old Marcus Isaiah Taylor from Vassar. In addition to that they also discovered a 3-year-old girl who was apparently unharmed during the explosive confrontation.
The subsequent investigation by the Auburn Hills Police Department determined that Marcus Taylor shot Jackie Jo Torrez and then ended his own life by turning the gun on himself and firing while leaving the little girl in the room uninjured.
Despite the fact that the 3-year-old was unharmed, and who police will keep anonymous, she was sent to a hospital in the local area and has since been released to a family member according to a report.
Domestic Abuse is an Ongoing Problem in Michigan and Nationwide
Auburn Hills Deputy Chief Scott McGraw said in recent statement, 'Domestic violence is a serious issue that affects individuals and families in many communities.” He continued by saying, “We urge anyone experiencing violence or abuse to reach out for help and support. There are resources available for victims of domestic violence, and no one should feel they have to face these challenges alone.”
