A Michigan man is glad he stuck to his everyday morning routine, as it has led to a $500,000 win from the Michigan Lottery.

Although the Alpena man's daily routine is arguably a bit old-school, the payoff for following that routine was huge.
"Each morning, I buy a newspaper, coffee, and one Lottery ticket," the player tells the Michigan Lottery.
(I'd go back to buying a newspaper every day if I thought it would help me win the lottery.)
Not the Reaction We Were Expecting
The player, who has chosen to remain anonymous, had an unusual reaction when he scratched his winning ticket.
"When I scratched the ticket off, all I could think when I scratched the prize amount was: 'Well, that’s weird.'"
'Old School' Plans For His Winnings
According to the Michigan Lottery, the man bought his winning ticket at the Shell gas station in Alpena. He plans to use his winnings to pay bills and then save the rest.
"I told my wife right away and we both just felt a sense of relief come over us. This means so much to our family and will really take financial pressure off of us," he said.
