Elderly Michigan Dog Was Stolen, Then Found 80% Burned

If you are a dog-lover, this one is going to make your blood boil. Our family has three rescue dogs right now. Five if you count the two we lost to old age. They’ve all been family, and reading about what happened to a little dog in Warren makes me want to pull ours a little closer.

Dog Stolen From Michigan Driveway

Her name is Ellie. She’s 16 years old, and her family says someone took her from their property. Days later, she turned up with burns.

Family Says Someone Took Ellie From Their Driveway

According to her family’s original missing-dog notice, Ellie is a Yorkshire terrier who is nearly blind and deaf. She disappeared October 12, and her owners say a neighbor saw a woman take her from their driveway according to Paw Boost.

Sixteen Years Old, Barely Able to See or Hear

That little girl should have been spending her time somewhere familiar, comfortable and safe.

If someone took her as the family describes, I have absolutely no patience for that.  Somebody else’s dog is not yours to take.

Microchip Helps Identify Injured Michigan Dog

According to Local 4, a woman brought Ellie to UrgentVet the following Saturday. Staff described her injuries as burns and used her microchip to contact her owners.

Imagine waiting days for that phone call, only to learn your dog has been hurt. Not just a little scrape, but most of her body.

Warren Police Investigate What Happened to Ellie

The cause of Ellie’s burns has not been established in the available reporting. We cannot say someone intentionally burned her.

We're hoping Ellie gets comfort, healing and the chance to go home. After 16 years of being somebody’s little companion, she deserves that much.

A GoFundMe page has been setup to help with the medical fees to get this sweet little girl back on her feet.
