From boating and hiking to fishing and off-roading, nothing beats a summer in Michigan. With all that our state has to offer, residents and out-of-staters alike are gearing up for the summer season.

To access the state's parks though, you need a special Michigan Passport which can be purchased with your Michigan vehicle registration. However this weekend the state is offering free access to all parks, trails and boat launches on June 7th and 8th. It's the annual 'Three Free Weekend' presented by the Michigan DNR.

Free ORV Trail Access: Normally you need an ORV license and a trail permit to ride in state parks. But this weekend, you can access the more than 4,000 miles of ORV trails Michigan has to offer. Following the nasty ice storms earlier this year, some trails are still being cleaned up, but you can check trail status by clicking here or visiting Michigan.gov/ORVinfo.

Free Park Entry: Michigan's State Park Passport is being waived this weekend as well. This provides free access to all 103 Michigan State Parks in addition to campgrounds and more than 1,000 boat launches.
