Five people were taken to local hospitals after a fire destroyed part of an apartment complex in Pontiac.

Firefighters from multiple jurisdictions were called to the Arborview Village Apartments just after noon on Tuesday (11/8). The apartment complex is located on Leonard Land and Fiddis Ave in Pontiac.

Four Units Were Damaged by Fire

Authorities at the scene of the explosion tell Detroit TV station WDIV-TV that when they arrived they found that the explosion had caused damage to four units in the apartment building, two of the units sustained extensive damage.

Five People Injured in the Blast

A total of five people were injured by the explosion. All five had to be taken to local hospitals for treatment, with two of the people injured suffering injuries that required them to be taken to a local burn center for treatment. At this time, no further information is available on the condition of the people who were injured.

The Cause of the Blast is Unknown

At the time of this writing, fire officials in Oakland County have not yet been able to determine a cause for the explosion. The incident remains under investigation.
