While Easter is generally considered a religious holiday and a holiday where kids hunt for Easter eggs and candy, it may also be a day of celebration when adults get together to enjoy a few adult beverages.

Can Michigan Stores Sell Alcohol on Sundays?

Buying alcohol on Sunday in Michigan is complicated. For the most part, retail stores are not permitted to sell alcohol before noon on Sunday. However, select stores have obtained special permits that give them the authority to sell alcohol beginning at 7 AM on Sundays.

Those retailers, however, are few and far between.

Can Michigan Residents Buy Alcohol on Easter Sunday?

Some states have laws in place that ban alcohol sales on Easter Sunday. These states include Delaware,Tennessee, West Virginia, and Texas. Texas law prohibits the sale of alcohol on all Sundays, which includes Easter.

Michigan, however, has no such restrictions. Residents are permitted to buy alcohol on Easter Sunday (in most cases after noon) just like any other Sunday.

Many Michigan Stores Will be Closed on Easter Sunday

While grocery, liquor, and party stores are permitted to sell alcohol on Sunday in our state, many retail chains will be closed.

Finding stores that sell alcohol on Easter Sunday may be challenging, as many national brands have chosen to close on Easter Sunday in order to give employees time to spend with their families.
