Officials Rescue 30+ Animals From Pontiac Home in Deplorable Condition

Animal Control officers and the Oakland County Sheriff's Department rescued more than 30 animals from a Pontiac home that was said to be in deplorable conditions.

What Are the Details?

On Friday (9/27), officials began rescuing the animals from a home in the 900 block of Argyle near Orchard Lake Road and Telegraph, according to Detroit's WXYZ-TV. A court order had been issued to remove the animals from the home.

Officials removed 29 dogs and eight cats from the home.

The home was said to be in deplorable conditions and the Detroit Free Press reports that the home is owned by Karmen Schooly. The 47-year-old is also believed to be the owner of Tri County Dog Rescue. Tri County Dog Rescue is a small 501c3 non profit animal rescue organization that is run by volunteers. The group's Facebook page has recently been deactivated.

Schooly has had animal related legal trouble in the past. The Free Press reports that she currently has an open case in Oakland County Circuit Court pertaining to her dog rescue organization.

The home has been condemned due to several home code violations.

The home's owner is expected to be hit with numerous animal neglect charges.
