Patriotism took center stage today (Friday, August 22), as Warwick Hills hosted Folds of Honor Friday, a day filled with powerful tributes, community activities, and world-class entertainment. Fans were encouraged to wear red, white, and blue as the tournament blended golf, music, and military recognition into one unforgettable experience.

Opening Breakfast Honors Heroes

The day began at 9 a.m. with the Folds of Honor Breakfast at the Dow VET Den on Hole No. 18. Attendees heard from Rocky Sickmann, Folds of Honor Vice President and former U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant, who spent 444 days as a prisoner during the Iranian Hostage Crisis. His story of resilience and patriotism set the tone for the day’s events.

At 10:45 a.m., attention shifted to the 10th tee box for the official Opening Ceremony. Fans witnessed a stirring performance of the National Anthem, a Presentation of Colors, and a Black Hawk helicopter flyover. Lt Col Dan Rooney, Folds of Honor founder and the only F-16 pilot to also become a PGA professional, delivered a special message.

The ceremony concluded with a ceremonial tee shot by U.S. Army Staff Sgt Jonathan Bowman, a Folds of Honor recipient family member.

Tournament Play and Fan Zone Fun

The first round of tournament play began at 11:20 a.m., bringing fans closer to golf legends. Beyond the course, the Fan Zone kept families entertained with golf challenges, simulators, and interactive exhibits. Open until 9 p.m., it offered something for everyone, from casual fans to dedicated golfers.

Concert and Evening Showdown at Hole 17

Evening events kept the energy high, beginning with the Ultimate Par 3 Showdown at 6 p.m. on Hole No. 17. That excitement rolled directly into the Concert @17 at 7 p.m., headlined by legendary funk band WAR, presented by Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort.

From golf to live music, and from patriotic tributes to family fun, Folds of Honor Friday proved to be one of the tournament’s most memorable and meaningful days.
