Teeing Up for Success: First Tee Junior Golf of Michigan Program Brings New Opportunities
When it comes to the game of golf, you either love it or you don't. And those who love it are always looking for people to play with them. Typically when people with kids play golf, they leave them at home, as most don't think of kids when it comes to a good golfing partner.
More Children Are Taking Up the Game of Golf
Historically, seeing children on the golf course has been a rare sight, but more kids are interested in golf now more than ever, and First Tee Junior Golf's mission is to help encourage that.
With over 150 chapters throughout the country, more and more kids are not only learning the fundamentals of the game of golf, but also learning life lessons along the way.
What Exactly Is the First Tee Junior Golf Program?
First Tee is unique in the fact that it not only offers group golf lessons to kids and teens ages 5-18, regardless of background or previous experience, but also incorporates life lessons like patience, courtesy, communication skills, responsibility, resilience, and leadership skills. All the program asks is that the kids come in with an open mind and positive attitude.

What If Your Child Has No Equipment and Has Never Played Before?
First Tee understands that it can be intimidating and expensive to start a new sport. But everyone was a beginner once, and the coaches are trained in creating a supportive environment to make kids feel comfortable and assure they have fun while learning about themselves and golf.
As part of their commitment, all employees, coaches and volunteers must complete a background check before working with our youth. In addition, all employees, coaches, volunteers and board members will be required to complete the SafeSport training program.
And if your child has no clubs/equipment, chapters provide access to all the equipment your child will need. And there is no need for special golf attire, just typical gym clothes will do.
How Can This Program Help My Child Outside of Golf?
First Tee Junior Golf sees golf as a metaphor for life–a game with unexpected challenges and ups and downs that help build strengths beyond the technical skills of playing the game.
With thought-provoking questions, interactive games, and fun golf exercises, First Tee designs each lesson to help kids build a better understanding of themselves that goes beyond the game of golf.
