Anyone who lives, or has even spent quality time, in Michigan knows that the weather in the mitten is slightly different than it is anywhere else on the planet. As most Michiganders will tell you, "if you don't like the weather in Michigan, give it 10 minutes, it'll change."

For instance, as I am writing this article it is currently 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. Let's take a look at the forecast for the next 48 hours, shall we?

The Cold—no pun intended—Hard Michigan Truth

According to the Weather Channel, Michigan's weather in Lapeer and Genesee County for the next 48 hours is as follows:

Wednesday, Feb 22nd, Day: 31 degrees. 1 to 3 inches of snow and ice are expected.

Wednesday, Feb 22nd, Night: 26 degrees. Just a bit colder than the day, with another 1 to 3 inches of snow and ice expected.

Thursday, Feb 23rd, Day: 46 degrees. All of a sudden, it's set to be much warmer, but still a wintry mix somehow. Michigan weather works in mysterious ways.

Thursday, Feb 23rd, Night: 15 degrees. Just some clouds to deal with, nothing us Michiganders aren't used to.

So, Let's Break This Down

Between Wednesday morning and Wednesday night, there will only be a 5-degree change in temperature, but precipitation will include between 2 and 6 inches of snow and ice. (Good times).

And, between Thursday morning and Thursday night, there will be a 31-degree change in temperature overnight but little to no precipitation.

And this is just 2 days, out of 365, of a Michigan year. It's crazy.

Now, according to Wikipedia's definition, Quantum mechanics is a fundamental theory in physics that provides a description of the physical properties of nature at the scale of atoms and subatomic particles. It is the foundation of all quantum physics including quantum chemistryquantum field theoryquantum technology, and quantum information science.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like the above definition is as easily understandable as that Michigan weather forecast for the next couple of days. Heck, because of all of the clickable links in the Quantum Mechanics definition, it may be more understandable than Michigan weather.

Maybe that's what these weather apps need to add. Clickable links that explain the absurdities of the forecasts they are showing.

Welcome to Michigan!
