Kem’s Christmas for Kids – A Huge Gift for Lapeer, Michigan
We have all heard of 'Christmas in July' but, what about Christmas in August? For children in need of Christmas in general, there is no wrong month.
What Is the Poverty Rate in Lapeer County?
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Lapeer County has a 9.3% poverty rate. And the estimated population as of July 2022 was approximately 88,780 residents.
This means that Lapeer County has approximately 8,257 residents living below what is considered the poverty line. This creates an opportunity for the Lapeer community to step in and help out those who may be less fortunate.
Sometimes Reindeer Have Wheels in Lapeer County
To the thought of children in Lapeer County not having Christmas presents this year, the Eagle Riders of Lapeer have said 'No. That's not happening!' for 15 years in a row. And they don't plan on quitting anytime soon.
Coming up is Kem's Christmas for Kids 16th Annual Eagle Riders of Lapeer Benefit Ride on August 26th, 2023, where all proceeds go toward Christmas presents for in-need children in Lapeer County.
