Will a popular Genesee County ice cream spot be opening for the 2026 season?

In September 2025, it was announced via social media that Ziggy’s Ice Cream Shop on South Saginaw Street in Grand Blanc would not be opening for the 2026 season.

Fast forward to March 2026, and social media is buzzing with rumors that Ziggy’s will be opening in Grand Blanc this season, possibly as soon as April.

I figured I would go right to the source and call the Ziggy’s location in Fenton. Unfortunately, they are not yet open for the season.

However, MLive reported today that the LaPiazza project - which will be home to the new Ziggy’s as well as Crossbow Inn - is expected to break ground in September. That timeline would still leave plenty of time for Ziggy's Ice Cream of Grand Blanc to open beforehand.

If you are not familiar with the LaPiazza project, the development will include much more than just dining options. The building is planned to feature residential units as well as retail spaces, creating a mixed-use destination for the Grand Blanc area

The LaPiazza building is scheduled to open in March 2027.

We will keep you updated as additional information becomes available. It will be interesting to see which other restaurants will be opening in the development.

As for Ziggy's Ice Cream, here's to hoping they will indeed open this season. If not, you can always visit Ziggy's in Fenton at 132 North Leroy Street.
