I never thought I'd see the day when you could walk into a bar and serve yourself. However, I guess I'm not all that surprised by the lack of waitstaff that bars and restaurants have endured over the past couple of years. I'm sure that had something to do with the push to change the law.
Earlier this year, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed Senate Bill 656 into law. The bill put an end to the Michigan Liquor Control Code of 1998. Bars and restaurants throughout Michigan are now allowed to install tabletop and wall-mounted taps for customers to use.
Thanks to the new law, Lincoln Tap is open and ready to serve, well, yourself.
How Much Beer Can You Serve Yourself?
First off, it's not a free-for-all. You can't just pour yourself as many beers as you want, there is a limit.
By law, the self-serve machines are only allowed to dispense 96 ounces of beer in each prepaid order. Each machine will be set up to serve no more than 16 ounces of beer.
