Malls around the country are losing stores, sitting half empty, or closing altogether. Meanwhile, Midland Mall is somehow doing the complete opposite.

According to the Midland Daily News, every permanent space inside the mall is officially leased for the first time in well over a decade. That includes every storefront, the food court, and even the arcade space. Come on, that’s pretty impressive in 2026.

Midland Mall Has Made a Major Comeback

Jordan Dice bought the mall in March 2023, and since then, he and his team have been working to make it a place people actually want to visit again.

They didn’t just sit around waiting for more big national chains to move in. They brought in local businesses, more places to eat, family entertainment, and community events.

The mall was already around 90 percent full by August 2025. A little more than a year later, there isn’t a permanent space left.

New Businesses Filled the Remaining Spaces

The last few spaces were filled by Studio 17, Tri City Deals and Steals, Uplift Creative Center, and Raising Arrows Children’s Boutique. Even the food court is completely full, which is something you don’t hear very often anymore.

People on social media were just as surprised. One person said filling an entire mall in 2026 should be studied in business school. Another said it has been awesome watching the mall come back to life and that maybe there’s still hope for malls after all.

Whatever Midland Mall is doing, it’s clearly working. I feel like Genesee Valley should be taking notes right now.
