When you think of northern Michigan, you think of tourism, wine country, and wilderness. The one thing that doesn’t come to mind is drug use. Yet one Michigan city has recently found itself at the top of a very interesting and surprising list.

One of Michigan’s favorite summer hotspots made a national list of the “Top 10 Wildest Cities in the U.S.,” and not for the usual reasons. Sure, it’s known for scenic views and wine country vibes, but now it’s grabbing attention for something a whole lot wilder.

The online sports betting guide OLBG conducted a study of the wildest and biggest party towns in the United States. The study found that one Michigan city knows how to turn things up to 11 when it comes to partying, as it was ranked number 3 on their list.

OLBG looked at factors such as the number of casinos and strip clubs, marijuana and cocaine usage, and more to reveal the wildest cities in the U.S.

What Michigan City is the Cocaine Capital of the U.S.?

Okay, okay, enough with the suspense. The unsuspecting city in question is none other than Traverse City. Say what?

Not only was Traverse City named one of the wildest cities in the U.S., it was also named, drum roll please, the 'Cocaine Capital' of the U.S. It ranked No. 1, with 23.8% of its population of 15,675 having taken the drug, according to OLBG.

Well, I bet you didn't see that coming. Yeah, neither did we.

This doesn’t mean people are out doing blow every night and now the city is some kind of drug-fueled mess. It just means that, according to the data OLBG looked at, this Michigan hotspot had the highest reported usage out of all the cities in the study.

Traverse City is still a beautiful and safe place to visit. They just happen to like to party a little harder than most.
