Jelly Roll visited the Genesee County Jail on December 5th, 2023, after Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson invited him to Flint via social media. The pair had a fun back-and-forth through videos and locked the date in so Jelly Roll could be part of an I.G.N.I.T.E graduation ceremony for inmates.

The mission of the I.G.N.I.T.E is as follows,

I.G.N.I.T.E's mission is to reverse the cycle of generational incarceration through education. Educating inmates has numerous benefits that help reduce recidivism and make the community safer.

By providing inmates with valuable job training, they are equipped with skills they can use upon release to gain meaningful employment and reduce their likelihood of reoffending.

The event featured Jelly Roll on stage at the jail offering inmates words of encouragement and even a jailhouse performance for inmates and Genesee County Jail staff.

The nearly 10-minute segment on 'CBS This Morning' does feature clips of the performance and his graduation speech. You can watch the interview in its entirety below.

Shout out to Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson and Jelly Roll for making a positive difference in so many lives.
