If you live on the north side of Flint or in the Beecher area, don’t freak out if you suddenly lose power late at night next week.

Consumers Energy is planning a scheduled power outage that’ll happen right around midnight on November 7 and stretch into the early morning hours of November 8. It's better for this to happen now than in the middle of winter.

Where in Flint Will the Power Outage Happen?

So, here's the deal: around 3,800 customers are expected to be affected, especially folks east of Summit Street and north of Carpenter Road. If you’re in that area, there’s a good chance you already got one of those little postcard notices in the mail.

Look, nobody loves a planned outage or any outage for that matter, but at least this one’s happening overnight while most of us are knocked out. It could be worse, you could be halfway through a Lions game when everything goes dark.

Why is Consumers Energy Planning a Power Outage in Flint?

According to ABC12, Consumers Energy is replacing electric lines as part of a bigger plan to improve reliability across Michigan. The idea is simple: take the hit now, avoid bigger headaches later. The company calls it their “Reliability Roadmap,” which basically means upgrading equipment before things start failing during a random Tuesday storm.

If you need more details or want to confirm whether you're included, you can call Consumers Energy at 1-800-477-5050.
