Five Pets Killed in Burton House Fire Saturday Night
This is just brutal.
A house fire in Burton Saturday evening left a family without a home and killed five of their pets while they were away. Let that sink in for a minute. It's one thing to lose one pet, but imagine the heartbreak of losing five all at once.
According to ABC 12, crews got the call just after 6 p.m. for a house near Morrison and Ready. When they showed up, smoke was already coming from the home, and it was clear right away that this was going to be a bad situation.

How Did The Burton Fire Start?
It’s still unclear exactly how the fire started, but investigators say it began in the kitchen, may have been electrical, and quickly spread throughout the house.
There is some good news here. The homeowners, young newlyweds Johnathon and Izzy, weren’t home at the time, so no one was hurt. But sadly, firefighters found the family’s dog and four cats inside the house. One dog did survive.

That’s the part that hits the hardest. You can replace the stuff in a home, but pets are family, and there’s just no easy way around that kind of loss.
GoFundMe Set Up for Burton Couple After Fire
A GoFundMe was set up by family members to help the couple replace essential items and cover vet bills for their surviving dog, Doobie-Doo.
Just a tough situation all around for this family.
