New Gas Station Planned Across from Nehring’s in Burton
Well, it looks like Burton’s about to get another gas station. Yes, another one. These things are popping up like crazy lately.
Apparently, the planning commission signed off on it earlier this month, so soon enough, you’ll see one pop up at Belsay and Bristol, right across from Nehring’s Market.
What’s Planned for the Belsay and Bristol Corner?
The guy behind it, Mohammad Hussain from Dearborn, owns a bunch of other stations (most of them BP), but he hasn’t said what brand this one will be yet. He’s also not sure what kind of restaurant is going in, just that there’ll be a carryout spot inside the 4,000-square-foot store along with four pumps out front.
According to The Burton View, the plan calls for nearly 30 parking spots, a loading zone, and better traffic flow for trucks and fire rigs. The city gave it the thumbs-up 5–1, but the developer still has to add a few things, like landscaping and screening, since there are houses nearby.
One neighbor pointed out that businesses do best when they actually connect with the community. Fair enough. He wanted to know the hours, and Hussain said it’ll probably run from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. to start, but could stretch later if traffic picks up.
When Will Construction Start on Burton’s New Gas Station?
The developer said they’re ready to break ground as soon as Genesee County finishes its stormwater review, the site plans are submitted to Burton’s building department, and permits are in place.
A New Car Wash Coming to Burton Too?
Oh, and get this, Hussain also bought the opposite corner and already has his eye on putting in a car wash there. So yeah, that intersection’s about to get busy.
I can’t imagine everyone in the subdivision across the street is loving the idea all that much.
While I love the idea of new businesses in the area, what I don’t like is how it could affect the ones that have been serving the community for decades, like Nehring’s.
