One way Michigan residents prepare for winter is by purchasing a space heater. Whether it’s for a chilly room at home or a freezing office, for some, it’s a winter necessity.

One of the challenges of buying a space heater is knowing which one is the best and, most importantly, the safest on the market. If you're buying one from Amazon, all you can really do is go by what the reviews say and hope for the best.

One company selling its products exclusively on Amazon is voluntarily recalling an item due to the risk of shock and potential fire hazards.

Anything that has the potential to shock or is a fire hazard should be taken seriously to ensure your safety and the safety of those around you. This is not something you want to take lightly.

The Vornado VH2 whole-home heaters were made in the U.S. and have a "JUL24" or "AUG24" date code, plus "TYPE VH2" printed on the silver label underneath the heater.

If you think you have the product in your home, unplug it immediately. You can contact Vornado at 844-205-7978 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to confirm that your product is part of the recall and receive instructions on how to receive a free replacement heater. You can also simply visit their website and click on “Product Recalls” at the top of the webpage to check if your heater is included in the recall.
