With new homes being built every day, doesn't it seem that they are getting bigger and bigger? You think what are they going to do with all that space? But that's nothing compared to some homes of the past. They weren't just big, they had to be REALLY BIG. And, it turns out that one of the biggest homes from America's past is actually here in Michigan!

WHERE IS IT?

The classic former home I'm talking about, not exactly new, is in Rochester, Michigan.

Thanks to our friends at Townsquare Media's WBCK Radio, for tracking this down from an article of 24/7 Wall St.

The 24/7 Wall St. website decided to look for the 15 biggest homes in America. They found them, and WOW, we're talking gargantuan homes.

I'm proud to say coming in at number nine, at 88,000 square feet, this former home-turned-museum in Rochester, is now known as Meadow Brook Hall, 350 Estate Drive on Oakland University's campus.

It is a National Historic Landmark, built between 1926 and 1929 for 4$ million. Today, that would be about $72 million!

This unbelievable home was built by Matilda Dodge Wilson, the widow of John F. Dodge and heir to the Dodge Motor Company, for her own personal use. Meadow Brook was built with 110 rooms on almost 1,500 acres.

It is a classic Tudor-revival style. What is that? Picture 1500s-esque architecture.

In 1957, probably thinking that their home was a tad too big for them, Dodge Wilson and her second husband Alfred Wilson donated the property and $2 million to Michigan State University-Oakland. That helped to create what is now known as Oakland University.

Another interesting fact is that Meadow Brook Hall is the fourth-largest historic museum in the United States. You can take great historic tours there, hold an event, and of course, make it a dream wedding location.

Are you wondering what is the BIGGEST home in America? Me too.
