Did ‘The Simpsons’ Predict a Lions Super Bowl Win?

The Simpsons have predicted previous Super Bowl winners but did they predict a win for the Detroit Lions?

Simpsons Super Bowl Predictions That Came True

The Simpsons has a history of making predictions that happen in real life. The show predicted Donald J. Trump would run for president in 2024. The show predicted Germany would win the World Cup in 2014 and the corruption of FIFA. The show predicted an average person would get sent into space which happened in 2013.

The Simpsons have made Super Bowl predictions over the years and have nailed it a few times. Simpsons character Lisa predicted the Washington Redskins would win the  Super Bowl in 1992. The show also predicted a win for the Dallas Cowboys in 1993.

The Simpsons made a very specific Super Bowl prediction that the San Francisco 49ers would beat the San Diego Chargers in 1995 and the show was accurate.

Did 'The Simpsons' Predict a Lions Super Bowl Win?

The Detroit Lions have been mentioned on the Simpsons a few times in the 35 years the show has been on television.

In season 30 episode 21, which aired in 2019, the Simpsons poked fun at the Lions when they were looking for a place to hide in Detroit and Homer said, "I know one place where there's always plenty of room." Homer was referring to Ford Field and the fact the Lions always had available seats due to their lack of winning.

In the Simpsons episode "Bart vs. Thanksgiving", Bark asked Moe Szyslak about betting on the Lions to which Moe said, "Lay off Detroit as the people there are living in Mad Max times." In episode 9 of the Simpsons' 6th season titled "Bart Star", Bart wrote a letter to the Detroit Lions and others, telling them that he would trade nuclear secrets for a mini bike.

There is no Simpsons episode where the show predicted a Lions win. The Simpsons did predict a 2025 Super Bowl where the Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Buffalo Bills. They may be half right on that one with the Bills having a chance of going.
