Detroit Police Are Wearing Lions Gear To Support A Playoff Run
Nearly everyone in Michigan will be glued to the TV screen Saturday at 8 p.m. as the Lions play the Washington Commanders in their first-ever playoff game ranked as the #1 seed. Lions-mania has only grown in stature all season and is at a height not seen before in this fanbase.

This fanfare has bolstered record Lions merchandise sales. Everyone wants to show their #OnePride and now that hype has spread to local law enforcement who have temporarily changed their rules to allow Lions attire while on the job.
Oakland's Rule Change
After the Lions' commanding win against the Minnesota Vikings last week, the Detroit Police Department took to its official Facebook page to share that the department had made a unique decision to support the Lions.

Chief Todd A. Bettison approved his officers to "show their support" during the Lions' playoff run, giving officers the choice to wear either a Detroit Lions beanie or ballcap while in uniform.
According to the Detroit Police Department's official uniform guidelines, officers are typically allowed to wear either a black/pewter flex baseball style hat or a black/pewter wool flex fit baseball style hat.
So, the hat style remains the same but there will be a splash of Honolulu Blue added to the officer's repertoire until the Lions' playoff run comes to an end (hopefully with a Super Bowl trophy on February 9th).
The Lions will play the Washington Commanders on Saturday, January 18th at 8 p.m. at Ford Field. It will be the first matchup of the season between these two teams.
