High School Kicker Nails 67-Yard Field Goal
In case you're wondering, the longest field goal in high school football history was set by Dirk Borgognone of Reno High School (Nev.) from 68-yards away back in 1985.
On Thursday, a high school kicker from Washington came insanely close to tying that record by hitting a field goal from the astounding distance of 67 yards.
The kicker's name is Austin Rehkow playing for Central Valley High School. In the waning seconds of Central High's game against Shadle Park, Austin lined up for a game-tying field goal to send the game to overtime. The kick itself had plenty of leg under it and just barely made it over the cross bar to tie the score.
Thanks to the kick, Central Valley carried that momentum and won the game in overtime. After hitting that state record-setting kick, Austin improved his stock as one of the best kicking prospects for college football coaches to drool over.
