Looks like Grand Blanc residents will see some action at the old Kmart building after the new year.

According to reports, construction on the old Kmart building, now known as Grand Blanc Marketplace, could begin as early as January of 2022. The building permit plans are just awaiting their final approval and once that happens, things can move forward.

What will the construction include?

For those of you that don't know, the building that formerly housed Farmer Jack and Kmart was bought a few months ago by Marcus Development Group. The City of Grand Blanc announced last month that the developer had plans to split the building in two to allow for new retailers and tenants to move into. The first of the two buildings will house up to six tenants that face Saginaw street. The second building will be split to allow for two more tenants and the outlot building will fit up to three tenants.

What do you want to see in the new Grand Blanc Marketplace when it is finished?

The Grand Blanc Marketplace is a great location for any business wanting to open in Grand Blanc. The options are endless when it comes to what could go in there. Personally, I would love to see businesses that we don't currently have in the area. As far as restaurants go, I would love to see an In-N-Out Burger and a Smoothie King show up in that spot. I know we already have a Smoothie King by Genesee Valley Center, but this would be closer to my home. Aside from that, I'm not really sure what could go there, either restaurants or retailers, that we don't already have close by. What do you think?
