Ford Motor Company had planned on building a huge new factory in Mexico, but yesterday announced that it will bring 700 new jobs to their Flat Rock, Michigan plant instead.

The move comes with some very coincidental timing, after Ford faced some criticism from President Elect Trump for building in Mexico.  Trump fired shots at GM as well shortly before the announcement was made by Ford.

While Ford officials would not say that Trump was directly related to the change of plans, they did say that they alerted Trump, and that he was very pleased.

The main reason for the shift was to build electric and autonomous cars in Michigan.  Ford will be investing major dollars in the Flat Rock plant to build a new fleet of electric versions of some of their most popular models.

The plant will add around 700 new jobs, and now the production of the Ford Focus will most likely stay at another plant near Detroit, rather than moving to Mexico.
