Kids and teens in Flint should be thrilled to hear that nearly $4 Million will be headed to Youth Quest from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.

The money is for YouthQuest, an afterschool program for more than 2,000 students enrolled in grades kindergarten through 12.

WNEM reports that around $825,000 will go toward the Summer Youth Initiative, which places young people in jobs with area businesses, and TeenQuest, a youth leadership and pre-employment training program. These programs are aimed at Flint area teens.

At a time when the Flint Schools are scrambling to recover from a huge debt, this is a huge boost to area kids.  The money will help great programs that are already in place, as they work to guide our kids.
