A Flint native who had been accused of working for the CIA while in Iran, and having been convicted by an Iranian court, is no longer on death row there.

According to WNEM, Amir Hekmati had his sentence overturned by Iran's Supreme Court. Hekmati had been convicted in January and sentenced to death after it was alleged the ex-marine had been working for the CIA.

Hekmati's family and the U.S. government have denied the allegations. Amir's father, Ali Hekmati, teaches at Mott Community College.
