Diplomat Pharmacy announced that they are being bought by a Minnesota based company.

Diplomat is based in Flint, but they are the United States biggest independent provider of specialty pharmacy services. The Diplomat World Headquarters is based in Flint, and employs around 1,000 people currently. The sale has many people in Flint wondering what the future holds for Diplomat in Flint.

Diplomat has been a huge member of the community in Flint and Genesee County. They are supporters of many charity organizations throughout our area, along with providing great paying jobs for residents.

What happens now that the sale is complete? Will Diplomat continue to operate out of their location on Saginaw St? Will the 1,000 employees continue to have jobs? There are about a bagillion more questions that residents are wondering as well.

The answers are not going to come from Diplomat, for now at least. According to Michigan Radio, Diplomat is referring all questions about the sale to the buyer, Optum RX.

Diplomat sent out a press release that you can read here, describing the circumstances that lead to the sale.

For now, we can only hope that the sale won't mean any major changes to the Diplomat building here in Flint.
