A driver in West Michigan who spilled $30,000 in cash onto US-31 wants his money back.

The mishap occurred in Grand Haven when the driver accidentally left the cardboard box full of cash on the bumper of his vehicle.

Brian Kamstra tells Fox 17 that he found $370 right away but decided to do the right thing, surrendering the money to police.

“I wanted the owner to have the money back obviously,” he said. “You know, it's not my money it's his and I would love to see him use it for his intended purposes.”

Officers were able to recover about $2,500 at the scene but say there are still thousands of dollars in currency that is not accounted for.
