Dream Team Helps Utah Woman Reunite With Dying Mom In Michigan

A Michigan woman who is battling stage four breast cancer got a special surprise visit from her daughter whom she hasn't seen in 12 years.

Samantha Torres lives in Utah. She's a working mom with a busy family and making ends meet can sometimes be challenging. Knowing that Samantha's mother Wendy is battling breast cancer, her friend nominated her for a Dream Team surprise. Salt Lake City TV station Fox 13's team regularly helps folks who are looking to do something special that would ordinarily be out of reach financially.

Torres Gets a Huge Surprise Outside a Grocery Store

Since Samantha couldn't afford plane tickets, the team hooked her up with a little money to help her family with some incidentals, a travel suitcase, and plane tickets to Michigan to see her mom.

Samantha fought back tears as she read the words on the certificate.

"We're flying you Michigan to be with your mother," Torres said.

Fox 13's Dream Team recorded the happy occasion right around Christmastime. Samantha has since flown to Michigan along with two of her children who have never had the chance to meet their grandmother.

The Reunion
