Astronomy has always been so fascinating to me, I mean think about it, even scientists have barely touched the surface of whats out there, and the things they do uncover can blow your mind.

As a kid, we went on field trips to the Adler Planetarium in Chicago and it was amazing. We learned a lot about astronomy events, cosmology, planets, galaxies, asteroids, astrophotography, and the Big Bang which has many theories.

Will Be Getting Darker Soon With Time Change

There are places in the mitten to stare at the stars in awe, but if you don't mind a small road trip, check these out.

Best Places to Star Gaze In Michigan

Lake Hudson Recreation Area in Clayton, MI. It's about an hour and a half from Lansing but worth the drive.

Dr. T.K. Lawless Park in Vandalia, MI is not too far and is close to 900 acres on the Indiana and Michigan border. An easy drive from both the Mitten and Chicago.

Beaver Island off the shores of Charlevoix, on Lake Michigan, has a many-acre Dark Sky Sanctuary that is breathtaking.  Very little pollution in the area.

A few more choices, Alpena is host 3 designated Dark Sky Preserves: Rockport State Recreation AreaThompson’s Harbor State Park,  Negwegon State Park.

There ya go, some great destinations to go and explore and go star-gazing.  Enjoy and bring a camera just in case you see a UFO.  Ever see one?
