Remember long distance charges? When my parents moved out of Michigan I waited to call them until after 7 p.m. when the rates were lower.

Now I can call my mom anytime I want on my cellphone. I have unlimited minutes and unlimited long distance. I can email her from my cellphone too because I have unlimited data. I could text her as often as I wanted because I have unlimited texting, but my mother doesn't text so that's not important. But what is important is that I don't have unlimited patience for finding a new cell phone. And I need a new phone.

I don't know what to do. I'm a Blackberry fan, have been for a long time. But with all the trouble that Blackberry is having -- stock prices dropping like bricks, the company announced expected operating losses and everyone from Facebook to Microsoft to Amazon has been rumored as possible buyers of the company called RIM -- I still like the phone.

It has a camera, but no flash, which is, in a way, the whole problem with the phone. No flash, no panache. The screen is half the size of most and it's not a touch screen. It has a keyboard with raised keys and I love it. It reminds me of old keyboards, that kind that make clicking sounds when you punch the keys,

I wouldn't be caught dead without my cellphone, but there's some part of me still drawn to the old-fashionedness of a phone on the wall. The kind you can tuck in the crook of your neck. The kind that doesn't accidentally butt-dial the last person you called.

Heck, if they made a cellphone with a dial, I'd buy it in a hot minute.

Instead, I'm going to have to get some new-fangled thing with flashing camera lights and hi-tech touch screens that anticipate my words within two letters. Ah, Ma Bell, I pine for you.

So what do you suggest? What phone do you have and why do you love it (or hate it)? Should I give up on Blackberry? Help me make up my mind.
