For the second year in a row, the Flint Downtown Development Authority is teaming up with downtown bars, restaurants, and Townsquare Media for a New Year's Eve celebration.

Chris Everson, General Manager for the Flint DDA, says last year they expected a crowd of about 1,000 people. Instead they got between 4,000 and 5,000 revelers. A tent was set up last year in the downtown flat lot and local bars worked with the DDA to offer raffle tickets to encourage a downtown pub crawl. This year, all bars will work with the DDA by having no cover charge. The DDA is also setting up a larger, heated tent again in the flat lot. The festivites will run from 9 p.m. until midnight and Cars 108, Banana 101.5 and Club 93.7 will broadcast live and award one person a trip for two to Las Vegas. Also, when the clock strikes midnight there will be a fireworks display.

The DDA is looking for volunteers for the event. They are asking community, non-profit and charitable organizations to volunteer. The DDA will donate $5 to each organizations cause for each hour worked per volunteer. Some of the positions include ID checkers and beer/wine servers. For more information, or to volunteer, please email ceverson@flintdda.org.
