Last season's American League MVP and Cy Young winner, Detroit Tiger Justin Verlander, showed the same form in his first spring training start yesterday, that helped him win the awards and lead the Tigers to the playoffs.

Verlander allowed just one hit, a bloop single, struck out one, and walked no one in two innings against the Toronto Blue Jays according to the Detroit Free Press. Blue Jays manager John Farrell, who was previously the pitching coach for the Red Sox, said this was progress for his team against Verlander. The last time the Blue Jays faced Verlander he no-hit them en route to 24 wins.
