Two teams put the rivalry aside and came together to realize that life is more than just a basketball game.

Students from Westwood Elementary and Traverse Heights Elementary teamed up to honor and support the family of Evan Matusik, a Traverse City student who lost his life to brain cancer.

The student was a fifth grader at Traverse Heights Elementary and when other classmates learned about his death they came together to show love and support for Evan and his family and friends.

Not only did students at Traverse Heights Elementary work together, but their sports team rivals at Westwood Elementary also helped show love Evan.

The two schools teamed up together and raised donations for the family of Evan Matusik. Students at both schools also wore pink (which was Evan's favorite color) to school before their game on Wednesday.
