A passenger with a confirmed case of the measles landed at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago last Wednesday, possibly exposing the virus to others. According to WNEM, travelers who were at O'Hare on January 10th between 6:30 am and 1:00 pm may have been exposed to the virus. Measles is a very contagious virus with symptoms that include a cough, rash, high fever, and red and watery eyes. The virus can live in the air for up to two hours after the infected person has left. There is a vaccine for measles, that most of us get as infants included in the MMR, but those not vaccinated should be on alert if they traveled through O'Hare last Wednesday.
