Non-violent offenders released from Michigan prisons in 2009 spent 79% more time in prison than those released in 1990 according to a Pew Center study. Austin Attorney Marc Levin (Director, Center for Effective Justice at the Texas Public Policy Foundation) is the Senior Policy Advisor to a group called Right On Crime that is advocating changes that could save Michigan an estimated 472 million dollars.
