The Cleveland Indians beat the Detroit Tigers yesterday, 2-1, giving them a three-game sweep, and a six game lead over the Tigers in the Central Division.

The Tigers had ace Justin Verlander on the mound but couldn't muster any run support. Verlander gave up a solo home run to Shin-Soo Choo to lead off the game, but then settled down, allowing only one more run. Trying to give his team a lift, Verlander struck out the side in the eighth inning. With the loss, Verlander went to 5-2 on the season.

The Tigers got their only run from recently called-up outfielder Quintin Berry who is playing for injured center-fielder Austin Jackson.

According to the Detroit News, this season is very similar to last year. The Tigers were four games under .500 and were swept by the Indians last year also.

The Tigers take on Minnesota tonight.
