1934 — Joe Medwick of the Cardinals spiked third baseman Marv Owen of the Detroit Tigers, despite an 11-0 St. Louis lead in Game 7 of the World Series. The aggressive play caused fans at Detroit's Navin Field to riot, and Medwick had to be removed to calm the crowd. (More info.)
