Here are just some of the notable sports moments that happened on November 14:

1943 — Sid Luckman of the Chicago Bears set an NFL record by passing for seven touchdowns in a 56-7 win over the New York Giants. (More info.)

1943 — Sammy Baugh of the Washington Redskins passed for four touchdowns and intercepted four passes during a 42-20 victory over the Detroit Lions at Griffith Stadium. (More info.)

1964 — Gordie Howe of the Detroit Red Wings set a new NHL record with his 627th career goal. (More info.)

1970 — A plane crash near Kenova, W. Va. claimed the life of 75 people, including 37 members of the Marshall University football team and its coaching staff. (More info.)

1993 — The Miami Dolphins beat the Philadelphia Eagles, 19-14, giving coach Don Shula his record-325th NFL coaching victory, one more than George Halas of the Chicago Bears. (More info.)
