State Senator Jim Ananich (D-Flint) will receive the Excellence in Education Award at the 13th Annual AT&T/MACUL Student Technology Showcase at the state capitol building later this month.

The award, which is given to legislators who have been dedicated to improving the Michigan educational system, will be presented on October 23rd by AT&T and the Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning during the event's opening ceremony.

In a news release, Ric Wiltse, MACUL Executive Director, said as "a former teacher at Carmen-Ainsworth and Flint Community Schools, Senator Ananich has worked as an education coordinator for Priority Children, helping train Genesee County youth to secure internships and jobs. His efforts have contributed to our students being better prepared for tomorrows workforce."

Ananich, a graduate of Flint Central High School and in possession of degrees from both Michigan State University and U of M - Flint, has been dedicated to making college education more affordable for all students and has fought against cuts to school funding. He has served two terms in int Michigan House of Representatives
