State Representative Joe Graves, R-Argentine Township, announced he will run for re-election on Tuesday. Graves, who represents the 51st House district, filed his paperwork on Monday to appear on the August primary ballot.

In a statement, Graves said "our state has made great strides fixing Michigan's economy and addressing crime in our communities. Over the past four years, 220,000 new private sector jobs have been created and violent crime is down 26 percent in the City of Flint. I am excited to be part of Michigan's turnaround and I remain committed to fighting for jobs and public safety."

The 51st District encompasses parts of Genesee and Oakland County, including Argentine, Atlas, Fenton, Flushing, and Gaines Townships. It also includes the cities of Linden and Fenton in Genesee County, and the townships of Groveland, Holly and Rose in Oakland County.
