Will they pass the payroll tax cut? Won't they pass the payroll tax cut?

At this point, I don't care. Honestly, I'm full. Filled to the brim with disgust at the inability of most legislatures to see beyond the end of their nose...or the end of their career, to be more accurate.

Where are the statesman? And by that I mean statespeople. Statespersons? You know, the people who believe in doing what's right for others first. I understand specific political ideology. I understand when you have given thoughtful consideration to a process and just can't see the reasoning of the other side. But I can't understand how every single member of each party is completely unable to cross the aisle anymore.

Should the payroll tax be extended for two months or not at all? Is two months too short? If it's going to be extended, what's wrong with extending it for a year. Can you imagine running your household budget the way these legislators run the nation?

"Hellooo, Consumers Energy? I just wanted to let you know that I won't be paying my bill for the next few months. I'm sure you'd like your money, but I think we can agree that I'm good for it based on my past payments and I just need a break for a little while. What say we pick this up again in about 6 months?"

Lights out.

Maybe somebody needs to shut off the power in Washington. Considering how worried everybody in Washington is about our debt level, and what should be cut or not cut, I suggest the first thing we cut is their paychecks until the start coming up with some compromises.
