The Salvation Army is celebrating 28 years of its Coats for Kids drive. They are asking for help in keeping children warm this winter by donating a gently used or new coat through November 16th.

Local area collection sites include the Genesee Valley Center, Courtland Center Mall, all Troy Cleaners locations and The Salvation Army Business Office. Genesee County Coordinator for The Salvation Army Major Jon Augenstein said "each donated coat is carefully sorted, cleaned and repaired, if needed and then inventoried to assure it will reach a Genesee County child in need."

Coat vouchers will then be distrubted to families who register for help with toys, food and clothing during The Salvation Army Christmas assistance application week starting October 29 through October 31 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at The Salvation Army Flint Citadel Corps at 211 W. Kearsley Street and the Flint Beecher Corps at 1475 W. Coldwater Road.
