State Representative Jim Ananich of Flint, on the State of the State Address:

"We can't take our foot off the gas in the drive for more jobs in Genesee County and across Michigan. Improving public safety and rebuilding our cities are important priorities, but we will go a long way towards accomplishing these goals if we refocus on strengthening the middle class. Our work must include making sure every student can get a good education, every senior can be financially secure, and everyone who wants to work can find work."

Speaker of the House Jase Bolger of Marshall on the State of the State Address:

"It is clear that Gov. Snyder is a man of his word and that's part of why we've been able to accomplish so much for Michigan in the past year by working for him. The Governor said in his speech last year that we needed to honestly measure progress, celebrating the areas in which we've succeeded and clearly defining those areas that still need work. The House Republicans are proud of what we accomplished in 2011 with Gov. Snyder and our partners in the Senate and we look forward to continuing to solve the challenges facing Michigan families."
