Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton is attempting to permanently shut down The Palm Tree Lounge on the city's north side. Leyton filed a complaint against the owners in Genesee Circuit Court after a number of violent incidents -which included three homicides - at the club in the past year.

According to MLive, prosecutors filed the complaint against the club late last month. A 22-year-old woman was killed at The Palm Tree Lounge in late April when she was shot in the chest. Her death brought calls for the club's closure by nearby residents.

The Michigan Liquor Control Commission suspended the club's liquor license following a May 9th meeting with club owners and representatives from the Flint Police Department and Michigan State Police.

The club sat closed as of yesterday. No court dates have been scheduled on the complaint filed by the Gensee County Prosecutor's Office.
